Please support us as you have done in the past – we appreciate that lots of the pharmacies are also now offering vaccines, however, our flu vaccine orders are placed 12 months in advance. We work on the basis of eligible patients and uptake in previous years. These flu vaccines are not provided by the NHS they are purchased by individual practices, therefore, if we are unable to administer them we make a loss and vaccines are wasted.
Other providers may tell you they have been asked to help us or that we are too busy to vaccinate. This is not the case. Vaccines are an important part of our work and funding. We have over 2,000 vaccines that are for our patients, we have clinics set up in our appointment books – if these aren’t fully booked it costs us. Having your vaccine elsewhere also creates more administration work for the practice.
