Online workshop Monday 18th May – have you experienced major abdominal surgery?

Patients who have experienced major abdominal surgery (also called emergency laparotomy) are invited to join one of two friendly, informal online session via Microsoft Teams on Monday 18th May (either from 9am to 10am, or 12pm to 1pm), where they can share their experiences and help shape the future of care.

The team has been working closely with the University of Birmingham to improve how they use the information already in the patient record, so they can continue learning, improving, and providing the best possible care for future patients. During the session, they’ll share what they’ve been working on and, most importantly, listen to your thoughts and reflections on how your data is used and how digital tools can support your care.

Your insights could make a genuine difference for future patients.

The session will be led by Dr Julia Gauly, University of Birmingham and Dr Julian Sonksen, Consultant in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust. It will be relaxed, welcoming, and open to all perspectives.

Please note that places are limited, and as a thank you for your time, the University is offering a £20 Amazon voucher to attendees. Even if you don’t get a chance to participate in this event, you can choose to indicate that you would be interested to be informed about future opportunities in this area.

To register your interest or find out more, please email dgft.place.comms@nhs.net or call Jess on 07854845052.
