Dying Matters Awareness Week 2026

Every year, Dying Matters Awareness Week, led by Hospice UK, encourages people across the UK to start conversations about death, dying and bereavement – in whatever way feels right for them.

These experiences affect us all, yet many of us find them hard to talk about. When conversations don’t happen, it can make coping even more difficult when we’re faced with loss.

The aim of Dying Matters is to break down the stigma and taboo around talking about death and dying – and to help people feel more confident about where to begin.

This Dying Matters Awareness Week is all about starting the conversation, whether that’s with family, friends, colleagues or employers. Small conversations can make a big difference.
