Dementia Action Week 2026

This week marks Dementia Action Week, a national awareness campaign to encourage everyone to take action to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.

Dementia affects thousands of people locally and millions across the UK – not only those living with the condition, but also their families, carers and friends. Early diagnosis, access to support, and understanding within our communities can make a real difference.

As a GP practice, we encourage our patients and community to:

• Learn more about the early signs of dementia

• Seek advice if you have concerns about memory or cognition

• Support those living with dementia with patience, kindness and understanding

If you are worried about yourself or someone you care for, please contact the practice to discuss your concerns. Support is available, and you do not need to face this alone.

We would also like to remind our patients that we host a Carer Support Group here at KMP on the first Thursday of every month, from 1–3pm. This is a welcoming space to share experiences, access support, and connect with others in a similar situation.

You can also find information and resources via Alzheimer’s Society:

Together, by taking small actions, we can help create a more dementia-friendly community.💙
