September is Gynaecological Cancer Awareness month.
Gynaecological cancers can affect anyone who has a womb, ovaries and fallopian tubes, a cervix, vagina and vulva. This includes women, transgender (trans) men and people assigned female at birth.
Types of Gynaecological Cancers:
- Cervical Cancer: Arises from the cervix, the lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina.
- Ovarian Cancer: Starts in the ovaries, which produce eggs.
- Womb Cancer (Endometrial Cancer): Develops in the lining of the uterus (womb).
- Vaginal Cancer: Starts in the vagina.
- Vulval Cancer: Occurs on the outer surface of the female genitals.
