If you think you may need a prescription medicine, please make an appointment with the doctor. Our practice nurse/nurse practitioner can also issue prescriptions for common ailments. If you have previously been given a prescription for a straight forward condition, such as hay fever, we may be able to issue a prescription after a telephone consultation. Please ask the receptionist. Your local pharmacist should be able to give you advice for non-prescription medication.
If you take medication on a long term basis you may not need to see your doctor for every prescription. If this is the case please telephone, write, email or call in before you need a new prescription. Wherever possible please give the exact drug names when ordering. Please allow 48 hours before collection from the surgery or for collection by the pharmacy of your choice. Your medication is reviewed regularly and as such you may be asked to attend to discuss your needs.
Repeat prescriptions normally take up to 48 hours and can be ordered in several ways:
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) sends electronic prescriptions from GP surgeries to pharmacists, removing the need for paper prescriptions and making the process more efficient and convenient for patients and staff alike.

Charge per prescribed item as of April 1, 2019 is £9.00. For items dispensed in combination (duo) packs, there is a prescription charge for each different drug in the pack.
